ITALIAN NAVY'S FRIGATE ITS CARABINIERE VISITS JAKARTA

Italian Navy's frigate ITS Carabiniere" will visit Jakarta from 9 to 13 March 2017. The ship is sailing to South East Asia and Australia to conduct a campaign aimed at strengthening the cooperation activities with several trans-regional allies and at establishing relationships with new partners.

During its trip the Carabiniere will also carry out joint training activities with foreign navies, as well as promoting dialogue, cooperation and Maritime Capacity Building, thus giving the partner countries an insight on the daily work of the Italian navy in the field of humanitarian assistance.

On the occasion of its tour ITS Carabiniere will showcase a wide range of Italy’s state-of-the-art technology and areas of excellence and will host social and cultural events promoting Italy, thus reflecting the international, European and global vision that defines the recently-started millennium as the "Blue Century", where the “blue growth” plays a key role in sustainable development. The maritime dimension is indeed a core element of sustainable development, which can offer opportunities for the growth of trade, employment and technology. Italy and Indonesia share a maritime vocation, which can serve as the basis for future collaboration between the two countries in this field.

The initiative involves the collaboration of several Italian industrial partners including Fincantieri, Leonardo, Electronics and MBDA Italy. Media Partners are RTV San Marino and Italian national TV network, RAI.

Set sail from La Spezia on 20 December 2016, the frigate has already visited Saudi Arabia and Australia, and on the way back will stop in Singapore and Malaysia – joining the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2017 –heading then to Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Oman.
